Continuous Improvement/Quality Engineer

We are looking to recruit an experienced CI/Quality Engineer to join our Quality team. This position will report into the CI & Quality Manager and be based in Calne, Wiltshire. The primary function of this role is to lead on and/or support continuous improvement projects to optimise production processes to approach zero defect levels of quality, liaise with production and customers on quality improvements and cell design/industrial engineering plus support customer/supplier audits/approval

Key Responsibilities include:-

  • Continuous improvements and systems improvement projects

  • Cell design and industrial engineering to create best practice manufacturing cells

  • Improving RFT yield in production (7 quality tools)

  • Incorporating new processes and methods to improve existing operations

  • Providing technical assistance related to analysis of defects (pareto, capability analysis)

  • Standardisation of systems (test measurement studies, visual inspection methods)

  • Auditing of processes

  • Determine root causes of failures and recommend changes in design, tolerancing or processing methods

  • Support PFMEA activity across the business

  • Validation of completeness/effectiveness of corrective action planning and initiate corrective action activities

  • Actively seek to optimise all relevant assembly processes to continuously improve quality and approach zero defect levels of performance

  • Assist Operation/Production Managers and Production teams to define and implement processes which create defect free products

  • Measure, analyse and report on key quality metrics to highlight areas for improvement

  • Produce quality reports for management and customer review

  • Support New Production Introduction activity

  • Develop and maintain process documentation in line with ISO requirements

  • Conduct QA audits both internal and external and ensure any corrective actions are effective and implemented

The ideal candidate will have:-

  • Degree in engineering or relevant higher level qualification

  • Proven track record in an electronic manufacturing environment

  • Good knowledge and experience of quality management tools and systems

  • Excellent problem solving abilities

  • Good influencing and communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and be a “completer/finisher”

  • Tenacity and the desire to succeed

  • Good understanding of IPC standards

  • Good process knowledge is an advantage

  • The ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively

The hours of work are Monday – Thursday 8.30 am – 5.00 pm and 8.30 pm – 2.00 pm on a Friday.
